Stampin' Up! Daisies Flower #2 Bigz Die

While working in my flower garden yesterday, I was inspired by one of my floral plants.  While taking a picture of the flower on the plant, I thought, "That would be a good flower to replicate on a card!".  Thus, I tried, and this card is the result.  I'm not sure of the name of the flower (at bottom of post), but it is so pretty (tell me what it is if you know).  I thought the Stampin' Up! Daisies Flower #2 Bigz Die would work beautifully to make the flower, so I used it. 

The flower on this card has as its center a Designer Button - Brights Collection which is topped with a Fire Circle Rhinestone Brad.  I used colored pencils to color the flower petals. 

The sentiment on the card is from the You're a Gem Stamp Set, which unfortunately is retiring on May 31.  (If you do not have this stamp set but want it, now is the time to get it before it retires.)  The top portion of the card is embellished with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions embossing folder.  The bottom portion is a scrap piece of designer series paper that I grabbed from my scrap folder (sorry, not sure of the paper). 

Other embellishments are Daffodil Delight 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Rich Razzleberry Taffeta Ribbon, and a trinket heart.

Here's a picture of the flower that I tried to replicate.  How did I do?  I think I could have done better, but time got away from me and I had to stop working on it. Hope you enjoyed the card!

Stampin' Up! Retiring Stamp Sets

Have you been waiting for the list of retiring stamp sets that Stampin' Up! (SU) issues each year to make room for new ones?  You need not wait any longer; the official list of stamp sets that are retiring is now available.  Check out the list below to see which sets are being "hung out to dry" (lol).

Each year when this list is issued, I feel sad about certain selections that will retire.  However, just as it is in the Spring time of the year, new beginnings are on the horizon and that makes me happy. 

The new SU catalog will debut on June 1 instead of the usual July 1 date.  This change precipitated the list of retiring stamps being issued early this year.

Will the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Diagonal Plate Fit Into The Martha Steward Scoring Board?

In the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog this year, Stampin' Up! (SU) introduced a new Simply Scored Scoring Tool, which is a wonderful tool.  Subsequently, SU introduced a new Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored Diagonal Plate.  Many stampers have asked the question, "Will the Simply Scored Diagonal Plate fit into the Martha Steward Scoring Board?

The answer is YES, however it can slip when using.  The Simply Scored Diagonal Plate (Diagonal Plate) fits into the Martha Steward Scoring Board (Scoring Board). The size of the Diagonal Plate and the scoring section of the Scoring Board is approximately a 12-1/2” square.  The Scoring Board does not have a raised lip on the right side which allows accommodation of the Diagonal Plate.  

If you are wondering if the Diagonal Plate will fit into the earlier and latest versions of the Scor-Pal®, designed by Diana Crick, it DOES NOT.  Both versions of the Scor-Pal® are approximately a 12” square with raised edges on both sides, which prevents the Diagonal Plate from dropping in. 

Thus, if you do not have the new Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool that is on page 16 of the Occasions Mini, but you have the Martha Steward’s Scoring Board, purchase the Diagonal Plate and you’ll be ready for all required scoring.

However, if you really want a PERFECT fit, buy and use both the SU Diagonal Plate and SU Scoring Tool!  Obviously, they are made to fit perfectly together!
