Stampin' Up! Designer Rosette Bigz XL Die

What a special week this is, and it has been since July 4, 1776 when the U.S. declared its independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.  Do you have special plans for celebrating the 4th?  I plan to spend the early evening at an outdoor concert and afterwards watch beautiful fireworks.

It can get quite hot here in Florida, so I decided to make a hand fan to use while at the concert.  Of course it has to be patriotic.  I think it is so cute, and it is actually quite sturdy.

The steps I followed to make the hand fan are:

• Cut an 11" x 5-1/4" piece of Real Red, Whisper White, and Night of Navy Cardstock
• Place each piece onto the Stampin' Up! Designer Rosette Big XL Die (125594) and run through the Big Shot (113439)
• Cut off the pointed ends of each rossette
• Fold each piece into accordian folds
• Glue the three pieces together
• Add glue to the ends of the rosettes and dip them into Silver Glass Glitter (120995) - let it dry

• Insert a piece of twine into the half-circles along the bottom of the rosettes and tie them together tightly (this will cause the pieces to spread into a fan)
• Cut an 11" x 1-1/2" piece of Real Red Cardstock
• Score this piece at the 1/2" and 1" marks
• Fold along the two score lines and glue the piece together to form a band for the outer sides of the fan
• Glue the band onto the outer edges of the fan, leaving the very bottom unglued
• Use a glue gun to apply hot wax at the very bottom of the fan to further reinforce and stabilize it

• Decorate as desired

Card Featuring Guneaux Designs' Polished Sliced Rock Technique

Last week I posted a video featuring another version of my new technique called Sliced Rock.  The version in that video is called "Polished Sliced Rock Technique".  The video is posted HERE for you to refer to for the supplies used for the technique and the card below. 

I think this card is beautiful!  Additionally, the card's fold is different from any I've seen.  Note the ribbon that ties the card shut.  The ribbon is the new Gumball Green 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon, and it is great to work with!

Polished Sliced Rock Technique

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a good Father's Day weekend!  Today I am sharing my second version of my Sliced Rock Technique.  This version is called "Polished Sliced Rock".  Here is an example of a flower that is colored by using the technique:

Flag Day!

HAPPY FLAG DAY!!!  Did you know that on June 14, 1777 the Continental Congress of the Stars and Stripes adopted the Stars and Strips as the official flag of the United States (U.S.)?  That's true!  Consequently, a law was enacted that designated today as Flag Day.  

Flag Day is a day that the President of the U.S. calls on U.S. Government officials to display the flag of the U.S. on all government buildings, and urges people of the U.S. to observe June 14 as Flag Day to celebrate the anniversary of the adoption of our official flag. 

This day is important to my family as it also is my late Dad's birthday.  He LOVED the American Flag, and displayed it everywhere he could as well as purchased anything that had the flag on it.  This card is in celebration of both special events.

Does my flag look like it's waving in the wind like the one above?  I meant for it to. 
God bless the United States of America, and may we look upon our flag in a special way today.
