Comfort Cafe DSP, Betsy's Blossoms, and Diamond Fold Card

I hope you had a nice 4th of July celebrating the birth of our country.  Did you seize the opportunity to make something crafty to display during your festivities?

So it's time to get back to work (ugh!).  Today I am sharing a diamond fold card with you.  I really like the way it turned out, and I hope you like it.

Don't you just love the Stampin' Up! Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper (DSP) (126898)?  This card features the DSP as well as the Betsy's Blossoms Stamp Set (126006), Kindness Matters Stamp Set (122902), and Bitty Banners Framelits

I am very appreciative of your comments!!

Apothecary Accents Framelits, Bordering on Romance, and Bitty Banners Framelits

What are your thought about the new Stampin' Up! Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003)?  I really like them.  Actually, all of Stampin' Up! Framelits are really great.  The largest framelit from the Apothecary Accents Framelits was used to produce the centerpiece of this card, which is explained at the end of this post.

This card measures 5-3/4" by 5-1/2", and the card base is Old Olive Cardstock (100702).  The beautiful new Raspberry Ripple Cardstock (126842) from the 2012-2014 In Color Collection is featured on the top portion of the card.  The sentiment is from a retired stamp set and it rests on another new In Color cardstock, Summer Starfruit (126839) and the Raspberry Ripple Cardstock.  Both were made with one of the Bitty Banners Framelits (129267).

This picture provides a different view of the card.

Card's Centerpiece

The following steps were followed to create the centerpiece:

1.  Cut from Whisper White cardstock the largest Apothecary Accents Framelit to create a stencil.

2.  Lay the stencil over a 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of Whisper White cardstock and, using daubers, pounce Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, and Old Olive Classic Ink within the stencil.

3.  Cover the largest floral stamp from the Bordering on Romance stamp set with Raspberry Ripple (126856) and Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers (100079).  Stamp this image onto the center of the piece below.

4.  Embellish this piece with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117305).

5.  Cut the same framelit from Raspberry Ripple cardstock (5-1/2" x 4-1/4").   Embellish with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (120175).   Adhere this piece on the upper part of the card base.

6.  Adhere the centerpiece (step 4) into the Raspberry Ripple cardstock.

7.  Cut another framelit (same size) from Summer Starfruit cardstock (126839).  Following the impression left on the negative, cut out the frame and attach it over the centerpiece.

Enjoy!!

Direct to Paper Technique

Did everyone has a good Memorial Day remembering the holiday's real purpose?  I don't know how you feel, but I don't like the commercialization of this holiday.

I'll not get on my soap box and move on.  I decided for my project share today to try for the first time the "direct to paper" technique where you use a swiping motion with stamp pads or spots to apply ink to card stock.  It really was quite simple.  Again, this was my first try, so don't be too hard on me! (lol)

I used a Getting Started Collection of Classic Stampin' Spots (119979) to apply Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and Pumpkin Pie inks.  To my knowledge, there are no special tricks to this technique ~ it's a form of art for which you decide how to use.

I added the expired Sale-A-Bration Everyday Enchantment Organdy Calypso Coral Ribbon at the bottom of the card.  The sentiment, enjoy, is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set (120501) and it was applied to Whisper White card stock with Calypso Coral ink.  I used one of the new Bitty Banners Framelits (129267) to create the sentiment.  And the wonderful stamp set that I hate to see go, Plant Hope (117042) was used for the tree images.  This Thursday, May 31, is the last day to buy this stamp set.  Enjoy!

Flower Fest and Twitterpaded DSP

The beautiful Stampin' Up! stamp set, Flower Fest, will no longer be available after May 31, which is next Thursday.  One of the images, the flower, from the stamp set is featured on this card.

Also featured on this card is the beautiful Twitterpaded Designer Series Paper (DSP), which is being carried over into the new catalog that debuts next Friday!  (Aren't you so excited about the new catalog?)

The card base is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" that opens from the bottom.  It is made with Lucky Limeade Card StockHopefully you can see the diagonal lines I created on it with the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Diagonal Plate for the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

The triangle mat for the top piece that holds a triangle piece of the Twitterpaded DSP is made from Riding Hood Red Card Stock, as is the scallop trim made with the Scallop Trim Border PunchThe piece of Twitterpaded DSP that runs down the front of the card is approximately 4-1/4" long and 1-3/8" wide.

The sentiment "Friend" is from the You're A Gem stamp set that retires next Thursday.  The upcoming Bitty Banners Framelits (129267) was used for the Whisper White Card Stock that the sentiment is on.  The mat for the sentiment is Baja Breeze Card Stock.

TIP:  If you do not have a matching banner that is slightly larger that one you used, trace around that banner with a pencil onto card stock and cut out the tracing.  That is how I made the Baja Breeze mat.  It may be slightly different, but it sure meets the need.

The flower featured on the card (from Flower Fest stamp set) is embossed with White Embossing Powder and water colored with the Stampin' Up! Aqua Painter, using Daffodil Delight and Riding Hood Red Inks

If you have questions on the card, click on the "Ask Questions" button under the banner and send me your question(s).  Enjoy!
