Stampin' Up! Greeting Card - Beach Scene - Tutorial

I'm sharing today a simple Stampin' Up! Greeting Card featuring a beach scene.  Living on the Gulf Coast of Florida is the impetus behind my beach scene greeting cards.  The beaches here are just gorgeous, especially the Siesta Key Beach.

I'm also providing a tutorial for making the card in case you want to give it a try.  Now I do not claim to be an expert at sponging, which is the technique used, but I wanted to share a tutorial of the card as it is very simple to case.  Here is the greeting card:

TUTORIAL

1.  Using a sheet of Stampin' Up! Watercolor PaperStampin' Up! River Rock Stampin' Pad, and Stampin' Up! Sponge, sponge the River Rock ink onto the cardstock as shown below.  This begins the creation of sand dunes:

 2.  Place a straight edge of a piece of paper across the cardstock and sponge onto the cardstock Stampin' Up! Baja Breeze Ink in the valley between the two sand dunes.  This creates water.

3.  Using the hibiscus flower stamp from the Stampin' Up! Fifth Avenue Floral Stamp Set, ink just the stamens with a Stampin' Up! Wild Wasabi Marker.  Stamp this onto the cardstock at the locations shown.  I double stamped some of mine.  This creates the grass on the sand dunes.

4.  Using a Stampin' Up! Soft Suede Marker, put many dots onto the sand dunes.  Sponge Soft Suede slightly across the dunes.

5.  Using a Stampin' Up! Bashful Blue Stampin' Pad, sponge the ink onto the cardstock to create the sky.  I made a template of scallops to create the clouds shown below (I forgot to take a picture of the sky before adding in the fence).  Using a brown marker, hand draw a fence on both dunes.  As I did, you may want to practice on your Stampin' Up! Grid Paper before drawing onto the cardstock.

6.  Using a black ink pen or marker, draw birds into the sky.  A variation of the letter V does the trick.

7.  Add six Stampin' Up! Metallic Brads to the cardstock as shown.

8.  Enhance your scene by creating highlights with a Stampin' Up! White Gel Pen around the grass, fence, and water.  Using a brown marker, create some shadows of the fence and grass.

9.  Assemble your card as desired.  I used Bashful Blue and Crumb Cake Cardstock.

I hope you give the tutorial a try!  Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
