Stampin' Up!'s Retiring Products

My friends, today is it!!  It's the last day to order Stampin' Up! retiring products!

Every year Stampin' Up! says a fond farewell to retiring products.  This year, we are saying good-bye to HUNDREDS of stamps and accessories from the 2011-2012 Catalog.  When these products officially retire today, at 11:50 P.M. Mountain Time, they are gone forever.

You may want to take a last look at the retiring products at this LINK to make sure you got all the items you wanted.

Tomorrow is the debut of the new 2012-2013 Catalog (Woohoo!!!).  If you don't have it in your hot little hands already, let me know!  There are so many new and fun products that become available.  Get your order ready!

Direct to Paper Technique

Did everyone has a good Memorial Day remembering the holiday's real purpose?  I don't know how you feel, but I don't like the commercialization of this holiday.

I'll not get on my soap box and move on.  I decided for my project share today to try for the first time the "direct to paper" technique where you use a swiping motion with stamp pads or spots to apply ink to card stock.  It really was quite simple.  Again, this was my first try, so don't be too hard on me! (lol)

I used a Getting Started Collection of Classic Stampin' Spots (119979) to apply Marina Mist, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Early Espresso, and Pumpkin Pie inks.  To my knowledge, there are no special tricks to this technique ~ it's a form of art for which you decide how to use.

I added the expired Sale-A-Bration Everyday Enchantment Organdy Calypso Coral Ribbon at the bottom of the card.  The sentiment, enjoy, is from the Fabulous Phrases Stamp Set (120501) and it was applied to Whisper White card stock with Calypso Coral ink.  I used one of the new Bitty Banners Framelits (129267) to create the sentiment.  And the wonderful stamp set that I hate to see go, Plant Hope (117042) was used for the tree images.  This Thursday, May 31, is the last day to buy this stamp set.  Enjoy!

Stampin' Up! Memorial Day Card

Let us pause today in remembrance of those who gave their precious lives for our nation, the United States of America.  Let us also bow our heads in prayer for those brave military men and women who currently are serving our nation, and those who have served in a war, conflict, or engagement and walked away with visible and invisible injuries and scars.  May God bless them ALL, and may we be very thankful for them placing their lives in jeopardy to protect US and our precious freedom!

If you cannot stand behind our veterans, please feel free to stand in front of them!

This card is dedicated to my family members who have served this great country in such a brave manner!

Zentangle Piece of Art

Today I am sharing a Zentangle piece of art that I developed.  I used a piece of Stampin' Up! Whisper White Card Stock (100730) when developing it.  Tell me what you see as the main element in the Zentangle!  Hope you enjoy!

Flower Fest and Twitterpaded DSP

The beautiful Stampin' Up! stamp set, Flower Fest, will no longer be available after May 31, which is next Thursday.  One of the images, the flower, from the stamp set is featured on this card.

Also featured on this card is the beautiful Twitterpaded Designer Series Paper (DSP), which is being carried over into the new catalog that debuts next Friday!  (Aren't you so excited about the new catalog?)

The card base is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" that opens from the bottom.  It is made with Lucky Limeade Card StockHopefully you can see the diagonal lines I created on it with the Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Diagonal Plate for the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.

The triangle mat for the top piece that holds a triangle piece of the Twitterpaded DSP is made from Riding Hood Red Card Stock, as is the scallop trim made with the Scallop Trim Border PunchThe piece of Twitterpaded DSP that runs down the front of the card is approximately 4-1/4" long and 1-3/8" wide.

The sentiment "Friend" is from the You're A Gem stamp set that retires next Thursday.  The upcoming Bitty Banners Framelits (129267) was used for the Whisper White Card Stock that the sentiment is on.  The mat for the sentiment is Baja Breeze Card Stock.

TIP:  If you do not have a matching banner that is slightly larger that one you used, trace around that banner with a pencil onto card stock and cut out the tracing.  That is how I made the Baja Breeze mat.  It may be slightly different, but it sure meets the need.

The flower featured on the card (from Flower Fest stamp set) is embossed with White Embossing Powder and water colored with the Stampin' Up! Aqua Painter, using Daffodil Delight and Riding Hood Red Inks

If you have questions on the card, click on the "Ask Questions" button under the banner and send me your question(s).  Enjoy!

Betsy's Blossoms Stamp Set

Hello, my friends!!  I'm providing you another sneak peek of a Stampin' Up! stamp set, Betsy's Blossoms (126006) that becomes available on June 1.  Just a few more days!!

The card project is so easy.  All I did was stamp onto Whisper White Card Stock (100730) three of the six stamp images from the Betsy's Blossoms stamp set.  I used the new Gumball Green Ink (126861), Gumball Green Card Stock (126840), Pacific Point Ink (126951), Pacific Point Card Stock (111350), and the new Raspberry Ripple Ink (126859).  Now how simple is that?

Papaya Collage Stamp Set and Floral District DSP

Isn't he so cute; the bird that is?  He's looking at himself in the mirror!  This card features a Stampin' Up! stamp set that debuts on June 1!  It is called Papaya Collage (126612).  All of the stamp images are from this set.  The designer series paper (DSP) used is the beautiful Floral District (126919) that also debuts on June 1!

I used faux metal peel and stick easy liner to create the mirror.  I think it worked quite well.  What do you think?  The below picture is a closeup of the bird.  The following picture shows a slight reflection of him in the mirror.

I really like how the frame turned out.  I used the Pewter Embossing Powder (124114) on the frame, cut it out, and covered it with a new ink color from the 2012-2014 In Colors, the Primrose Petals (126858).  This same color in card stock forms the card base.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Card - Comfort Cafe DSP & Apothecary Accents Framelits

Are you getting excited about the debut of the new Stampin' Up! Catalog?  When it debuts on June 1, you'll notice a lot of changes, good ones that is.  This project share features one of the beautiful, upcoming Designer Series Paper (DSP), Comfort Cafe DSP (126898) and a new Framelit, Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003).  This card features two of the designs for this DSP. The key color for these designs is Cajun Craze.

TIP:  If you will note, you can see that I used the negative of the new Framelit  for the first card layer.  Try that when you get yours.  Also, I covered it with Crystal Effects (love that stuff!).

The picture above and below show the dimensional aspects of the card.

Other Stampin' Up! products used are:

Perfectly Penned Stamp Set (122892) - sentiment
Adorning Accents Embossing Folders (125601) - the hearts
A ribbon that was featured in the last Holiday Mini, Very Vanilla Designer Velvet Ribbon

Stampin' Up! Digital Paper Crafting Software

If you reached this blog post, you must be comfortable with using a computer, right?  Believe me, there are some people out there who aren't!  Since we've decided that you're comfortable with a computer, you must also be comfortable with using various software, right?

In that case, let me ask you a few more questions:

  • Do you love scrapbooking?
  • What about card making?
  • Would you like to try digital scrapbooking and/or card making?
  • If yes, have you tried the Stampin' Up! My Digital Studio (MDS) yet?

If you haven't, but would like to try it on a trial basis, you can do that with the My Digital Studio Express TrialHere is how it works:

  • You go to my on-line store, (click HERE) and download the trial software.
  • You try it for 30 days FREE.  Yes, I said FREE
  • If after the 30 days you decide for whatever reason that you cannot fit it into your tool box of stamping supplies, all you have to do is NOTHING!

HOWEVER, if you try it, there is a good chance you'll like it and want to include it into your stamping tool box after the 30-day trial period.  If you do, here's what you do:
  • You purchase the version of the software you downloaded to continue using it.
  • To purchase it, you'll simply open up the trial version you already have on your computer, and you will be prompted to enter the product registration key you received after purchasing the software. (You'll receive this key via e-mail if you purchase the downloadable version, and you'll find it along with your shipped software if you purchase the disc version.)
Now, how easy is that?  You now have the ability to create hard-back scrapbooks that will last forever!

***************************

Would you enjoy a FREE update to the software when Stampin' Up! debuts the new MDS 2 late 2012?  If you purchase the MDS (regular or express trial) from May 8 until the MDS 2 becomes available, you'll get the upgrade FREE.  You'll receive an email from Stampin' Up! with instructions on how to get your free copy!

Happy Birthday - Brayer

It has been a while since I've used my Stampin' Up! brayer, so I decided to use it to create this card for my special brother who has a birthday Saturday.  He is a horse lover and has had many beautiful, special horses in his lifetime.  Therefore, I wanted a horse stamp for the card.  I chose to use a retiring Stampin' Up! stamp set, Out West, that met my need for a horse stamp.  The brayering on this card was inspired by Michelle Zindorf, who taught me how to use a brayer.  If you are interested in taking one of her classes (she travels all over the US), click here.

As you can see, the card is an easel card.

Stampin' Up! Products Used:

Stamp Set:  Out West
Ink:  More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, and Basic Black ink.
Card Stock:  Whisper White, Soft Suede, and Basic Black Card Stock
Accessories:  Antique Brads and Decorative Label Punch

Floral District DSP

My friends, I have fallen in love with the new Stampin' Up! (SU) Floral District Designer Series Paper (DSP) that becomes available on June 1!  I am so pleased with the new SU products.  My card share today features the DSP, and I have to say, that I really love this card.  It is so pretty in person.  When June 1 rolls around, you must order this DSP; you won't regret it.

If I have to say it myself, I think I did a very clever thing with the ribbon.  At first glance, it appears as though it is wrapped around the card, but it isn't.  In the following three pictures you can see that it's not.

Do you ever feel like your creativity is working at full speed?  I felt that when I was making the card.  I really like it, so much that I think I am keeping it for myself (lol).  Do you ever do that?
