Serena, A Digital Stamp Image

Serena, A Digital Stamp Image

When I look at this young girl image on my card, I think of Stevie Wonder’s song, “Isn’t She Lovely”.  She is Serena, a digital stamp image that I purchased from The Paper Shelter.  She has her hand over her heart as she peeks with one eye from under her gorgeous hat with a lovely pink flower!

Heated Pearls Technique Using Pearl Ex Pigments

Remember when the Heated Pearls Technique Using Pearl Ex Pigments was the trend?  I remember the first time I used the technique.  I was temporarily living in the Washington, D.C. area working on a contract for the Federal Government.  I was thinking about becoming a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator and was experimenting with techniques.  A demonstrator asked me to help her prepare cards that showcased various techniques for a card swap she was hosting.  I agreed to help and was asked to use the Heated Pearls Technique.  I enjoyed the technique but it can be messy; therefore, I rarely used it.

However, an opportunity to use the technique presented itself when I was serving as a “Dirty Girl” on Splitcoaststampers.  The “Dirty Dozen” theme for the month of April was titled “Perfect Blend”.  When the challenge was posted, I immediately thought of the Heated Pearls Technique using Pearl Ex Pigments.  Therefore, I used the technique in response to the “Perfect Blend” challenge.  This is the card I submitted but could not post it until now.

1 John 3:21-24
“Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.  And this is his command:  to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.  Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them.  And this is how we know that he lives in us:  We know it by the Spirit he gave us.”

Hello and thanks for stopping by Guneaux Designs.  Today, I have a card for you that features stenciling, blending glass bead gel and ink, and sponging. The glass bead gel gives a raised effect on the card with tiny glass beads that sparkle.  Hopefully, you can see the sparkle.

Heartfelt Creations Camelia Carnation Collection

Welcome, all!  I am sharing another card I made while serving as a “Dirty Girl” for Splitcoaststampers.  I made the card in May, and it is a Mother’s Day card.  I made it with the Heartfelt Creations Camelia Carnation Collection (HFC).  I saw a card on the HFC site and decided to case it, with a few exceptions.  This card is the result.

Birthday Card Made With Penny Black Dainty Whispers

Hello, and thanks for stopping by Guneaux Designs!  It has been a long time since I last posted to my blog as I have been posting to my website, Stamping With Guneaux Designs.  Today, I decided to post to my blog to determine which site gets more viewers.  To that end, I am sharing a Birthday Card Made With Penny Black Dainty Whispers stamp.

Word of the Day

James 1:2-4
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Power Poppy Apples In Season Digital Stamp

POWER POPPY APPLES IN SEASON DIGITAL STAMP

Welcome to Guneaux Designs!  Thanks for stopping in to see the latest project that I created with the Power Poppy Apples In Season Digital Stamp.  (Because the image is digital, I will not show it in my post – copyrighted.)  On Splitcoaststampers today, the Clean and Simple Challenge was to create a “fruity” card to celebrate National Pina Colada Day. This is my submission to the challenge.

I colored with Copic Sketch Markers the Power Poppy Apples In Season Digital Stamp image.  After coloring the image, I laid over it an Impression Obsession Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames die to cut the image into frames.  The die used is a single one that cuts the frames simultaneously.  After cutting the frames, I started gluing them to the card base. I added glue to the fourth frame and covered it with clear crystals. Hopefully, that can be seen in the photo.

I used a CottageCut Expressions die, Sweet Phrase, to create the sentiment that I offset with red cardstock.  I also covered that with glue and crystals.  My last addition to the card is the three pink crystal drops.

Thanks for stopping in to see my Power Poppy Apples In Season Digital Stamp card! Hope to see you back soon!

Flowering Flourishes Stamp Set & Tool Tip

Welcome to Guneaux Designs Today I am sharing with you a card that features a new stamp set from the 2012 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, the Flowering Flourishes.  I was so disappointed when Stampin' Up! retired the Baroque Motifs stamp set; however, I am quite pleased with the Flowering Flourishes stamp set which is similar.  The stamp set includes three "flourishes", and the one on this card is the largest.  I think it is so cute!

This picture gives you another view:

STAMPIN’ UP! SUPPLIES:

Stamp Sets:  Flowering Flourishes (126367) and Bring on the Cake (121958 – sentiment)

Paper:  Gumball Green Card Stock (126840), Primrose Petals Card Stock (126841), and Whisper White Card Stock (100730)

Ink (Stampin’ Write Markers):  Gumball Green Marker, Primrose Petals Marker, Raspberry Ripple Marker, Midnight Muse Marker, and Summer Starfruit Marker (all in one package – 126856)

Accessories:  Midnight Muse 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon (126847), Basic Pearls (119247), Curly Label Punch (119851) and 1-1/4” Square Punch

HOW TO MAKE THIS HANDMADE CARD:
  • Cut a 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of Gumball Green Card Stock and fold it in the middle to create a card base.
  • Cut a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of Primrose Petals Card Stock and adhere it onto the front of the card base.
  • Cut a 5" x 3-3/4" piece of Whisper White Card Stock.
  • Using the above listed Stampin' Write Markers, cover the flourish stamp with Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, and Summer Starfruit ink (see picture for guidance).
  • Stamp the image onto the Whisper White Card Stock.
  • Fill in with ink the places on the stamped image where needed.
  • Use a permanent yellow marker and color three Basic Pearls.
  • Adhere the pearls onto the three flowers as shown in picture.
  • Underneath of stamp image, stamp "Happy Birthday" using this sentiment from the Bring on the Cake stamp set.
  • Tie a piece of Midnight Muse 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon into a bow and adhere it to the top-left of the stamp image.
  • Follow the information below to create the two corner pieces.
TOOL TIP:

Remember when we had the Stampin’ Up! Photo Corner Punch to create our corner decorations on our handmade cards?  I loved that punch and I miss it.  Well, I decided to look for another way to make attractive photo corner pieces.  Therefore, I did, and this is how I did it.

1.  Cut a piece of cardstock using the Curly Label Punch.

2.  Place the corner of the long side of the curly label into the corner of the 1-1/4" Square Punch, lining it up evenly and cutting it.

3.  This is the result.  Cut more and add them to the corners of your card.

Sympathy Card - Trust God

It seems as though sorrow is being experienced by so many around me, including my family.  Thus, this card is dedicated to those going through the journey of grief (Melissa, Melody, Gwen, Jennifer, and many more).  Trust God!!

This sympathy card features the Stampin' Up! Floral District Designer Series Paper and the Trust God Stamp Set.  If you cannot see the sentiment, it says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understand."  How very appropriate in times of sorrow.

Stampin' Up! Supplies and Item Numbers:

PAPER:  Floral District Designer Series Paper (DSP) (126919), Baja Breeze Cardstock (111352), Rose Red Cardstock (102544), and Whisper White Cardstock (100730)
INK:  Rose Red Classic Stampin' Pad (102109)
ACCESSORIES:  Daffodil Delight 1/2" Seam Binding (125583), Whisper White Baker's Twine (124262), Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons (127555), and Sticky Strip (104294)

Instructions for Handmade Card:
  • Place two 2" pieces of White Baker's Twine in a water and Rose Red ink combination (3-4 drops of ink into a small amount of water).  (I use an 8 oz. plastic container that is 1/4" full with water.)
  • Allow the white twine pieces to turn Rose Red, remove from the water, and let dry.
  • Create card base (5-1/2" x 8-1/2") from Baja Breeze Cardstock, folding in the center.
  • Cut a 5-1/4" x 4" piece of DSP series paper (your choice) and adhere it to the card front (my piece is the daffodil delight DSP).
  • Cut a 5-1/2" x 4" piece of another design from DSP (my piece if the floral DSP).
  • Along the 5-1/2" side of the DSP, mark the 2" point down from the top on both sides.
  • Mark the center of the DSP on the 5-1/2" side.
  • Using a pencil and ruler, draw a line from the left 2" mark to the center mark as well as the right 2" mark to the center mark.
  • Using a trimmer, cut on the drawn lines.
  • Cut a 2-1/4" square from Rose Red Cardstock.
  • Cut a 2" square from Baja Breeze Cardstock.
  • Cut a 1-3/4" square from Whisper White Cardstock.
  • Adhere the Baja Breeze Cardstock to the Rose Red Cardstock.
  • Stamp your sentiment onto the 1-3/4" square of Whisper White Cardstock using Rose Red Ink.
  • Adhere the Whisper White Cardstock to the Baja Breeze Cardstock.
  • Cut a 6-1/2" strip of the Daffodil Delight Seam Binding, add adhesive to the back side of both ends, and adhere it to the triangle piece of DSP, wrapping the ends onto the back side.
  • Adhere the sentiment and mats onto the triangle piece of DSP, placing it onto the center of the paper (see pic).
  • Adhere the DSP onto the top portion of the daffodil delight DSP (see pic).
  • Using the Rose Red twine, thread a piece underneath the Seam Binding on the left side, threading a Vintage Faceted Designer Button and creating a bow.  Repeat for the right side.

Tool Tip - Sticky Strip

Do you find yourself shying away from using the Stampin' Up! Sticky Strip  (104294) because the red lining can be difficult to remove?  I used to do that until I discovered this trick!

In my workshops, I've noticed that everyone tries to remove the lining at the ends of each strip.  Even I did that.  However, there's a better way to remove it!  With your index finger, catch the red lining in the center of the strip with your index finger and lift it right off!  I was surprised how easy it is when I discovered this.  Try it!

International Bazaar DSP, Window Frames Framelits, & Friendship Preserves

I have for you today another sneak peek of a product in the upcoming 2012 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  Yesterday I shared with you the upcoming Window Frames Collection Framelits.  Today I'm sharing a sentiment stamp image (see below) and the card I made using the framelits.  The beautiful Designer Series Paper, International Bazaar (126920), is from the new Annual Catalog that was released in June.

The sentiment, Thanks a Bunch, is the sneak peek!  It is in the upcoming catalog and is part of a four-stamp stamp set, Friendship Preserves.  The stamp set matches the Window Frames Framelits!  You can get these two items as a bundle, which means you'll save 15% on the cost of buying them individually.  This is a new feature from Stampin' Up! in the Holiday Catalog.  Isn't that great!!

This picture is a closeup of the sentiment.

Enjoy!

What is so great about this set of framelits is that you can get two different designs from it.  It's like getting two sets of framelits in one!!  Here's a look at another design.

Now how cool is that????
